The board of Dairygold will be allowed to “determine policy around the areas where milk can be supplied from” following a vote by Dairygold members today (Wednesday, December 4), Agriland understands.
Dairygold members voted by “significant majority” to adopt a number of rule amendments proposed by the society at a Special General Meeting (SGM) in the Mallow GAA Sports Complex, Co. Cork today.
This includes changes to milk supply provisions, which will remove “outdated milk quota language” from the rule book, and allow the board “to determine policy around the areas where milk can be supplied from”.
Agriland has asked Dairygold to outline whether there have been any changes made in relation to areas where milk can be supplied from, and what is meant by “outdated milk quota language”.
Dairygold members also voted to rename the existing Liquid Milk Sub-Committee to the “Seasonal Milk Scheme Committee”, due to Dairygold having Winter and Autumn Milk Schemes in addition to the Liquid Milk Scheme.
The Seasonal Milk Scheme Committee, as it is due to be renamed following a vote by members today, will address activities relating to all such schemes, Agriland understands.

Dairygold has stated that the rule amendments adopted today will also promote a “more diverse, equitable and inclusive” membership, both on the share register and in the governance and representative structures of the society.
Designated Regional Committee seats have been introduced to encourage categories of members that are currently “under represented” in the society’s governance, such as females and young male and female farmers.
In addition to changes to the Seasonal Milk Scheme Committee, and milk supply provisions, changes to casual vacancy term provisions, and the powers of the board in relation to board policies were also approved.
