Water treatment plants in Kerry, east Limerick, Clare, Tipperary, Waterford, Donegal, Leitrim, County Galway and to the west of the city have been “most impacted” by Storm Darragh, according to Uisce Éireann.
The company is currently carrying out a full assessment of where Storm Darragh has had the most impact on water and wastewater services throughout the country.
Margaret Attridge, head of water operations with Uisce Éireann, said “Due to the severity of the storm, Uisce Éireann had activated its emergency response processes, including deploying generators at key sites where power outages were likely.
“Uisce Éireann crews are now on the ground assessing the full impact and working to restore supply as quickly as possible.
“We are also working closely with the ESB to return power to key water services sites as quickly as possible.”

According to the company most properties should have “adequate storage” in their attic tanks for hygiene purposes for at least 24 hours if they experience a loss of supply.
It has also advised that there some simple steps people can take to conserve their water, such as avoiding the use of water-intensive appliances during this time.
However it has also warned that because of the demand on ESB resources in the wake of Storm Darragh, “outages may persist through today (Saturday, December 7) and into Sunday in some areas”.
ESB
Separately ESB has warned that with Met Éireann wind warnings remaining in place until this afternoon, “further power outages can be expected”.
It also highlighted that ESB Networks crews and partner contractors have been deployed since early morning to assess the damage of Storm Darragh, to make the network safe and restore electricity supply in challenging conditions.
“All ESB Networks teams are mobilised and are continuing to closely monitor the storm impact on power supplies,” it added.
According to ESB there has been widespread and extensive damage to electricity infrastructure and power outages nationwide had impacted on an estimated 325,000 customers this morning.
