A livestock haulier has received penalty points and a fine from Gardai for causing a stink with his leaky truck.
The haulier’s truck was stopped by Naas Traffic Corps on the N7 for losing part of its liquid load.
The official twitter page for An Garda Siochana tweeted a photo of the leaky truck alongside the caption, ‘you’re leaking from the rear’.
According to Gardai, the haulier received a fixed charge penalty notice (FCPN) and penalty points were also issued.

Livestock haulier slapped with €4,000 fine
Earlier this year, it was reported that a road haulier based in Co. Offaly – that counts livestock among its services – had been fined €4,000 for “false or misleading records” on several vehicles.
This fine follows on from an investigation by the Road Safety Authority (RSA).
Tierney was convicted by the court after the RSA investigation found “serious and systematic non-compliance” with the European Communities (Road Transport) (Working Conditions and Road Safety) Regulations 2008.
Under the EU regulations, transport operators are expected to organise and monitor drivers’ work in an effort to prevent driver fatigue, which contributes to one in five driver deaths in the country.
A break of 45 minutes is mandatory for every four and a half hours of driving, and drivers are restricted to working no more than 90 hours per fortnight.
