Almost €2.5m issued to farmers in scheme payments -DAFM

The Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine (DAFM) issued nearly €2.5 million in scheme payments to farmers last week.

The latest data, published by the department, shows that over €1.3 milllion was issued to farmers under the Targeted Agricultural Modernisation Schemes (TAMS).

TAMS provides grants to farmers to build and/or improve a specified range of farm buildings and equipment on their holding.

The figures show that €1.29 million was paid out under TAMS 3, while an additional €42,538 was issued for TAMS 2 applications.

DAFM confirmed that €76.4 million has now been paid under TAMS 3 across some 8,848 claims.

30,728 applications for TAMS 3 have been approved by the department, with 11,083 payment applications submitted.

An additional €301,225 was issued last week to farmers under the 2024 Basic Income Support for Sustainability (BISS) and Complimentary Redistributive Income Support for Sustainability (CRISS).

A total of €847.4 million has now been paid under these schemes to 119,634 farmers, including €38.6 million for the 2024 Complementary Income Support for Young Farmers and the 2024 National Reserve of €3.2 million.

There was a further €213,328 paid out to farmers for the 2024 Eco Scheme, bringing the overall amount issued to €308 million to 118,755 farmers.

€350,000 was issued to farmers under the Agri-Climate Rural Environment Scheme (ACRES) last week.

This brings the total paid to farmers for the agri-environmental scheme to €513.24 million.

€107,253 was paid out under the 2024 Areas of Natural Constraint (ANC) and Areas of Specific Constraint (ASC).

€45,072 was paid to farmers participating in the Organic Farming Scheme (OFS). 4,761 farmers have now received their 2024 advance payment for the scheme.

The department also paid out a further €90,630 for farmers who opted for last year's Baling Assistance Payment (BAP). 1,274 farmers have now received a total of €3.6 million for this measure.
