Arrabawn has moved to increase its milk price for supplies in September, following similar moves by all other processors.
The board of Arrabawn has decided to increase its base milk price for last month’s milk by 2c/L.
This increase, along with the support payment of 0.5c/L, results in a quoted milk price of 49.65c/L, an increase from 47.15c/L for August milk.
Arrabawn’s milk price decision is part of a trend this month of increases in milk price roughly in the range of 2c/L to 2.5c/L across all major processors.
Earlier today (Friday, October 18), Tirlán confirmed an increase in the price it will pay for September milk supplies.
The Kilkenny headquartered processor will pay a total of 49.08c/L, including VAT, for September creamery milk supplies at 3.6% butterfat and 3.3% protein, an increase of 2.75c/L on the payment for August.
Tirlán’s milk price consists of a base milk price of 48.58c/L (including VAT) and a Sustainability Action Payment of 0.5c/L (including VAT) to all qualifying suppliers.
Tirlán’s chairperson John Murphy said: “Dairy markets have been solid in recent weeks, although there have been some softening in European butter prices from record highs.
“The current milk-to-feed price ratio presents an opportunity for spring calving to generate economic returns by continuing to supply high-quality milk for as long as possible,” he added.
“The board will continue to monitor the dairy markets on a monthly basis,” Murphy said.
Also today, Carbery Group announced its milk price, deciding to increase its base milk price for August by 2.5c/L.
Carbery said that if this decision is replicated across the four west Cork co-operatives of Bandon, Barryroe, Drinagh and Lisavaird, it will result in an average milk price of 50.75c/L, an increase from 48.03c/L for August milk.
A spokesperson for Carbery Group said: “The ongoing strengthening of dairy markets through quarter three, and in particular strong cheese prices, are enabling this increase in milk price.”
These milk prices follow on from similar announcements from Lakeland Dairies, Kerry Dairy Ireland and Dairygold over the last week.
