The Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine (DAFM) has approved 5,873 applications made by farmers under tranche 1 of the new Targeted Agricultural Modernisation Scheme (TAMS 3).
The latest data published by the department shows that a further 238 applications received approval in the week up to Friday, March 8.
This means that 71% of the 8,203 applications made under tranche 1 of TAMS 3 have now been given the green light.
The department said that 1,682 applications are currently “in progress”, 498 have been rejected and 204 were withdrawn.

The Animal Welfare Nutrient Storage Scheme has the highest number of applications still being processed at 663.
1,629 out of the 2,494 applications made under the scheme have been approved, 131 were rejected and 71 were withdrawn.
267 of the 2,050 applications for the Farm Safety Capital Investment Scheme are still under progress; 1,490 applications have been approved, 240 rejected and 53 withdrawn.
There were just 9 further approvals granted by the department under the Women Farmer Capital Investment Scheme (WFCIS) over the past week.
Of the 259 applications made for this scheme, 117 have been approved, 199 are still being processed, 16 were rejected and 7 withdrawn.
The department previously confirmed that all applications made under the Low Emission Slurry Spreading (LESS) measure have now been dealt with.
537 out of 551 applications were approved, 3 were rejected and 11 were withdrawn.
The priority approval mechanism for applications to tranche 2 of TAMS is currently open for farmers who need to commence grant-aided works urgently.
9,110 applications were made under TAMS tranche 2 by the closing date of January 19.
Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine Charlie McConalogue has said that all eligible applications will be approved under tranche 2.
It was previously announced that tranche 3 of the scheme will close for applications on Friday, April 12, 2024.
