DAFM: Almost €1.8m paid out under schemes last week

The Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine (DAFM) issued a further €1.8 million in farm scheme payments last week.

The latest data, published by the department, shows that just over €1 million was paid out under the Targeted Agricultural Modernisation Schemes (TAMS).

The majority of that total (€996,000) was issued under TAMS 3, with an additional €44,000 paid for TAMS 2 applications.

The department said that €59.4 million has now been paid out to date under TAMS 3 across 6,723 claims.

27,308 applications for TAMS 3 have been approved by the department, with 8,790 payment applications submitted.

The data shows that a further €396,000 was paid out to farmers under the 2024 Basic Income Support for Sustainability (BISS) and Complimentary Redistributive Income Support for Sustainability (CRISS).

Approximately 119,273 farmers have now received a total of €843.4 million in payments under these schemes.

The BISS/CRISS figure above includes the 2024 Complementary Income Support for Young Farmers (CISYF) of €37.4 million and the 2024 National Reserve of €3.2 million.

An additional €134,600 was paid to participants in the Organic Farming Scheme (OFS), with total payments for the 2024 scheme now standing at €48.8 million to 4,728 farmers.

The department also paid out €85,400 to participants in the Baling Assistance Payment (BAP), along with €49,000 for the Straw Incorporation Measure (SIM).

There was €40,714 paid out under the 2024 Areas of Natural Constraint (ANC) and Areas of Specific Constraint (ASC).

An additional €25,000 was paid to farmers under under the Green, Low-carbon, Agri-Environment Scheme (GLAS).

Meanwhile, the department has received nearly 64,000 applications for the 2025 BISS and other area-based schemes.

A DAFM spokesperson told Agriland that as of last Wednesday morning (April 23), 63,993 applications have been received for the schemes.

The department has reminded farmers that the closing date for BISS applications in 2025 is Thursday, May 15.

This application process also includes the CRISS, Eco-Scheme actions, and the other related schemes.

These include the CISYF, the Protein Aid Scheme, the National Reserve, and transferring of entitlements.

Annual payment claims for the Agri-Climate Rural Environment Scheme (ACRES), SIM, and the OFS can also be made online, along with the Multi-species Sward Measure and the Red Clover Silage Measure.

Last year, 124,274 BISS and other area-based scheme applications were submitted to the department from across the country by the deadline.
