The Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine (DAFM) gave the green light to a further 137 applications made under tranche 1 of the new Targeted Agricultural Modernisation Scheme (TAMS 3).
The latest department statistics covering the week up to Friday, April 12 show that 6,730 (82%) out of a total 8,203 applications have now been approved.
The figures show that department staff are still considering 728 applications, while 541 have been rejected and 204 have been withdrawn by farmers or their advisors.

An additional 50 applications were approved last week by the department under the Animal Welfare Nutrient Storage Scheme, which was the most popular scheme under tranche 1.
1,940 applications made by farmers under the scheme have now been approved, 319 are "in progress", while 144 have been rejected and 71 withdrawn.
The data shows that 45 more applications were cleared by DAFM staff for the Farm Safety Capital Investment Scheme, resulting in 1,676 out of 2,050 applications now being approved.
111 applications are still being considered under the Solar Capital Investment Scheme. 577 out of the 751 applications applications lodged for this scheme have been approved.
Approvals under tranche 1 began issuing to farmers back in December, with department staff gradually making their way through the applications.
9,110 applications were made by farmers under tranche 2 of TAMS 3, which is an increase of 11% when compared with the first application round.
Similar to tranche 1, a priority approval mechanism is available for those farmers who require urgent approval to proceed with works.
The closing date for applications to be made under tranche 3 of TAMS 3 fell last Friday (April 12).
