DAFM issues €2.5m in scheme payments to farmers

Over €2.5 million was issued by the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine (DAFM) in scheme payments to farmers last week.

Of that total, some €2.27 million related to payments under the Targeted Agricultural Modernisation Schemes (TAMS).

The scheme provides grants to farmers to build and/or improve a specified range of farm buildings and equipment on their holding.

The latest data shows that €2.17 million was paid out for TAMS 3 claims, while an additional €101,000 was issued for TAMS 2.

The department has now paid out €85.7 million to farmers under TAMS 3 across 9,709 claims.

An additional €100,588 was issued last week to farmers under the 2024 Basic Income Support for Sustainability (BISS) and Complimentary Redistributive Income Support for Sustainability (CRISS).

A total of €847.68 million has now been paid under these schemes to 119,662 farmers, including €38.7 million for the 2024 Complementary Income Support for Young Farmers and the 2024 National Reserve of €3.2 million.

DAFM paid out €150,000 under the Agri-Climate Rural Environment Scheme (ACRES) last week.

This brings the total payments issued for the agri-environmental scheme to €515.1 million.

€30,072 was also paid last week for the Areas of Natural Constraint (ANC) and Areas of Specific Constraint (ASC).

This means that 99,352 farmers have now been allocated a total of €249.23 million under these measures.

DAFM issued a further €26,000 to farmers in the Organic Farming Scheme (OFS) last week.
