DAFM issues update on TAMS tranche 6 and 7 applications

The Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine (DAFM) has published an update on the status of applications made under tranches 6 and 7 of the Targeted Agricultural Modernisation Scheme (TAMS).

The scheme, which is divided across a range of different measures, provides grants to farmers to build or improve a specified range of farm buildings and equipment on their farm.

According to the department, 2,445 (50%) of the 4,930 applications made under tranche 6 have been given the green light.

Some 2,157 applications remain to be processed, 189 have been rejected and 139 were withdrawn.

There were 2,181 applications made to the department as part of tranche 7, the emergency tranche opened in response to Storm Éowyn.

DAFM said that 1,236 applications have been approved, 791 are to be fully processed, 101 were rejected and 53 have been withdrawn.

The Dairy Equipment Scheme (DES) was the most popular scheme under tranche 7 with 986 applications submitted.

571 of those applications have been approved, 55 rejected, 19 withdrawn and 341 to be processed.

The department also confirmed that 357 applications made under tranche 5 of the scheme are still "in progress".

5,047 (86%) out of the 5,823 applications made in this round have been approved, 348 rejected and 71 withdrawn.

The Solar Capital Investment Scheme (SCIS) has the highest number of applications to be processed at 122.
