The Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) has today (Friday, April 4) issued a recall notice for an ice-cream product amid concerns about a "chemical smell" from the product.

The batch of Dairy Farm Vanilla Ice Cream is being recalled due to some customers experiencing a chemical smell and/or taste from the product and the FSAI has said that point-of-sale recall notices will be displayed in Lidl stores.

Consumers are advised not to eat the implicated batch which has the following batch code: L24356B with a best before date of June 2026.

Earlier this week the FSAI also issued a food recall notice for a bar of chocolate originating from Belgium.

Batches of Tony’s Chocolonely Dark Almond Sea Salt (pack size 180g) were recalled due to the possible presence of small stones. Point-of-sale recall notices were displayed in stores.

Retailers were requested to remove the implicated batches from sale and display recall notices at point-of-sale.  

Wholesalers/distributors were requested to contact their affected customers and recall the implicated batches and provide a point-of-sale recall notice to their retail customers.

Consumers were advised not to eat the implicated batches - 162633 and 162614 which have a best before date of 28/02/2026.

A recall notice has also been issued for another Tony’s Chocolonely product, due to the possible presence of metal fragments.

Tony’s Chocolonely hollow chocolate egg, milk caramel sea salt, and Tony’s Chocolonely hollow chocolate egg, milk chocolate, with the batch numbers in the table below have been recalled.
