Department issued over €6.2m in scheme payments last week

The Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine (DAFM) issued over €6.2 million in payments to farmers across a range of schemes last week.

In the week up to February 21, the department paid out €1.3 million under the 2024 Basic Income Support for Sustainability (BISS) and Complimentary Redistributive Income Support for Sustainability (CRISS).

118,805 farmers have now received a total of €837 million in payments under these measures.

The figure above includes the 2024 Complementary Income Support for Young Farmers of €34.6 million and the 2024 National Reserve of €3 million.

The latest data shows that €1.9 million was issued under the new Targeted Agricultural Modernisation Schemes (TAMS 3), while €17,000 was paid out under TAMS 2.

The department also paid out €1.9 million to 757 farmers under the Baling Assistance Payment (BAP)

BAP was introduced in 2024 as an additional scheme to bolster fodder supplies which ran in tandem with the Straw Incorporation Measure (SIM).

The payment gave farmers the choice to either receive funding by chopping straw under SIM or by baling it under BAP.

DAFM also paid out a further €137,000 in SIM payments last week.

The data shows €366,000 was issued to farmers participating in the Areas of Natural Constraint (ANC) and Areas of Specific Constraint (ASC).
