Belfast-based agri-technology company, Devenish has announced the appointment of Padraig Ryan to its board as a non-executive director, from March 1, 2025.
With a career spanning over three decades, Ryan served as managing director of Cargill Animal Nutrition Ireland for 33 years, where he was involved in driving growth and innovation in the sector.
Most recently, he has spent the past seven months as general manager at Devenish.
In his new capacity, the company said that Ryan will consult with the executive team and board on key initiatives while focusing on identifying new business opportunities to support Devenish’s continued expansion.

Commenting on the appointment, Tony McEntee, chief executive at Devenish said: “We are delighted to have Padraig join our board, given his wealth of experience within the animal nutrition sector.
“His expertise will be extremely valuable in guiding the business as it targets significant growth in the coming years.”
Headquartered in Northern Ireland, and with sites across Ireland, the UK, and Turkey, Devenish carries out research and development in nutrition and sustainability throughout the food chain.
The company, founded in 1952, develops and supplies science-based premixes, minerals, starter feeds, and speciality products for the ruminant, pig, poultry, aqua, and companion animal sectors.
Today, it employs over 350 people globally and trades in over 40 countries across the globe.
In November, Devenish Nutrition announced that it had partnered with Jamaican sustainable agriculture company CB Group to commission the first commercial partnership research and development (R&D) facility for growing broiler chickens in a tropical climate in the Americas.
The facility will be utilised to scientifically test variables such as feed formulations, housing conditions, and breeds to determine the best combination for the region.
