A dairy enterprise in Invercargill, New Zealand, is looking for two people for a two to three month placement on its farms over the busy period of spring calving (August to September in the Southern Hemisphere).

The roster would be a 6 days on, one day off, with one person on each farm unit.

The two farms have around 700 cows each.

Required experience includes: milking cows; calving cows; the ability to identify and treat lame cows if needed; keeping and maintaining records; and weed control.

The candidates should also have the ability to drive two- and four-wheeled motorbikes.

Certified Irish Angus is looking to take on a livestock inspector, to work on a part time basis in the meat plant of its processor partners, ABP and Kepak.

Responsibilities will include: inspection of livestock prior to slaughter; implementation of group's livestock policy; and production of reports of inspections.

Essential requirements include: excellent knowledge of livestock; computer literacy; and willingness to work on their own initiative.

The ICBF is currently hiring a technician to join the ICBF team based in its Dairy and Beef Research Centre in Kildare town on a 20 month contract.

The successful candidate will have specific responsibilities in (among other areas): collection of greenhouse gas data, feed intake data, and microbiome data on cattle; management of the day-to-day maintenance of GreenFeed machines; and management of a zero-grazing feed intake trial, including feeding of animals on trial.

Candidate should have a bachelor’s degree in agricultural science or related discipline; knowledge of grass-based beef production systems; and knowledge of factors that can reduce the climate impact of ruminant production systems, among other requirements.

Waterford Farm Relief Service (FRS) is looking to take on a yard person/forklift operator based in its Kilmacthomas Branch in Co. Waterford.

The role will involve assisting in the overall operations of the yard and store; using forklift equipment for picking and packing orders; working efficiently and effectively as part of a team; and keeping the work area clean and tidy.

The ideal candidate should have, or demonstrate, fluent English; good numeracy and literacy skills; forklift operating qualifications and experience; and the ability to work under pressure.
