The Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine has issued a reminder to farmers of the key deadlines for verifying organic manure movements between farms.

Organic nutrient movements that took place between January 1, and June 30, 2025, must be verified by the importer by 11:59p.m on July 14, 2025.

Organic nutrient movements that take place between July 1, and December 31, 2025, must be verified by the importer by January 14, 2026.

To be considered valid, organic nutrient movements must be recorded by the exporter within four days and verified by the importer by the appropriate dates set out above.

With the exception of a limited number of justified cases (e.g. force majeure), declaration and verification of these movements must be done online.

This can be done through either the nitrogen and phosphorus section of a farmer's Agfood.ie account or the department's Organic Nutrient Movement App.

The department is also reminding farmers, who are exporting organic manures from their holding, that they must declare the movement to the department within four days of the movement taking place.

This requirement has been in place since the start of 2025.

If farmers are experiencing any difficulties declaring or verifying organic nutrient movements, they are urged to contact the department by July 14.
