FRS Co-Op: Evolving to support the changing needs of Ireland

Since we were founded by farmers in 1980, FRS Co-Op has continually evolved to serve the ever-changing needs of our communities.

Starting out with a small number of staff to provide extra support to farmers, we have now evolved into an organisation of over 2,000 employees.

While we have been known as FRS Network for the last while, we felt it was time we had a name that more clearly reflected our role as a social enterprise that works co-operatively with our communities.

So, from now on, we are going to be known as 'FRS Co-Op'. As a co-op, we are motivated by purpose, and that purpose is making Ireland work better for everyone. That is why our brand mantra is ‘we grow better together’.

We will continue to provide all the services we have up to now. FRS Farm Services continues to help more than 2,000 farms around the country every day.

Ireland’s leading fencing provider, FRS Fencing delivered 2.5 million metres of fencing for its customers last year and will continue to support farms, homes and businesses across the country.

We continue to build the expertise and support offered through FRS Training; FRS Recruitment; FRS Contract Services; Turas Nua; WrkWrk; Herdwatch and more.

We will also continue to look at how it can do things even better. Innovation is at the core of everything we do - seeing what is needed in communities and how it can help is core to our purpose.

It is what led us to create several of the different businesses that make up the multi-sector Co-Op that we are today.

That is something we intend to keep doing - looking at ways we can provide better solutions and services for everyone we work with.

We also know the agricultural sector is facing many challenges and we will continue to support farmers in every way we can.

Helping the farming community to address challenges was what we were originally set up to do and has been at the heart of our activity for the last 43 years.

Head of Agriculture at FRS, Neil Keane said: "We are one connected FRS Co-Op and we want people to know what that means.

"Our core belief is: 'we grow better together'. That’s always been at the centre of everything we do and as we look to the future of the organisation, that will continue.

"As we look ahead, we wanted a name and identity that reflected where we have come from and also where we are going. FRS Co-Op is a brand built for a modern Ireland, with our roots clear for all to see.”

FRS Co-Op Group CEO, Colin Donnery added: “This organisation has come a long way over the last 40+ years.

"We’ve only been able to do that because we have always put co-operation at the centre of everything we’ve done. We know we can get more done by working together and growing together with our colleagues, our customers and our communities.

"It’s what we’ve always done. It’s the FRS Co-Op way.”
