According to the Health and Safety Authority (HSA) the agriculture, forestry and fishing sector accounted for 12 work related fatalities in 2024, all of which were farming incidents representing over a third of all fatalities from a sector employing 4% of the workforce.
The HSA continues to advocate for "vigilance and advance planning around health and safety at work" to reduce the risk to individuals and has repeatedly warned that farms are identified as a high-risk workplace.
