Gardaí have launched an investigation after four men with dogs were found allegedly hunting hares on lands in north Kerry over the weekend.
Agriland understands the discovery followed reports of an incident in the Ardfert area on Sunday night (October 6).
In a post on social media, gardaí said that officers from Tralee found that the group of men were also carrying lamps when they were discovered.
"Hunting on lands without the owners consent is an offence under the Wildlife Act as is using lamps, lights, torches, or other artificial light to hunt protected wild birds or animals.
"We adopt a zero tolerance approach to such behaviour. If you witness any such activity, please let us know," the social media post read.
A spokesperson for An Garda Síochána confirmed to Agriland that "enquires are ongoing" into the incident.
Separately, An Garda Síochána is investigating two burglaries in Co. Monaghan which occurred last Monday (September 30) on separate farmyards.
The first burglary was at a farmyard at Radrum, were an Ifor Williams cattle trailer, a red 520 Honda quad and a petrol Honda power washer were stolen.
The second burglary occurred at a farmyard in Tappa, were two Stihl leaf blowers, a Dewalt drill, a Lanco generator, a Honda power washer and a blue extension lead were stolen.
