An Garda Síochána are continuing to investigate after a number of burglaries occurred across the last few weeks in Co. Cavan.
Gardaí received a report of a burglary at a house at Lisnalea, Bailieboro on November 5, that is believed to have occurred between 4:00p.m and 11:00p.m that day.
Another burglary occurred at a commercial premises at Farnham Road at approximately 1:50a.m on November 8.
Gardaí also received a report of a burglary at a residential property in Drumalee Manor, Drumalee, Co. Cavan which took place between 8:00a.m and 5:50p.m on November 12.
Meanwhile, in Co. Galway, gardaí received a report of a burglary at a property at Newbridge, Tuam ,which took place between the mornings of November 29 and November 30. Enquiries are ongoing.
In Co. Laois, gardaí are also investigating a burglary that occurred in the Stradbally area between 1:00p.m and 2:00p.m on December 4.
Gardaí are appealing for information for anyone or any vehicles acting suspiciously around the general area. A white 181 van has been reported acting “suspiciously” in area at this time.
Gardaí in Co. Monaghan have also urged the public to be vigilant following a number of burglaries in the surroudning areas.
Gardaí have asked people to look our for their neighbours, to not keep any large amounts of money at premises and to report any suspicious activity immediately.
Burglaries
With darker evenings upon us, An Garda Síochána has encouraged homeowners to protect their homes when burglaries traditionally tend to rise.
The campaign is part of Operation Thor, a national multi-strand anti-crime initiative which actively targets organised crime gangs and repeat offenders. It involves a wide-range of enforcement, crime prevention and public awareness measures.
Operation Thor has resulted in a substantial reduction in domestic burglaries across Ireland since it first launched in November 2015.
Over the winter months, targeted activity across garda divisions include checkpoints, increased patrolling in burglary hot-spots, and the provision of impactful and useful crime prevention advice.
