Gardaí in Co. Meath have launched an investigation following the theft of a jeep in Co. Meath which occurred yesterday morning (Wednesday, October 30).
The vehicle, which is understood to be a black commercial Toyota Land Cruiser with a 222D registration plate, was taken from the Stackallen area of Slane.
In a statement to Agriland, a spokesperson for An Garda Síochána confirmed that: “Gardaí in Navan are investigating the theft of a 4×4 vehicle from a residential property in Slane, Co. Meath, in the early hours of October 30, 2024.
“Investigations into the incident are ongoing and the vehicle has yet to be recovered.”
Anyone with information in connection with the theft or who may have seen suspicious activity in the area is asked to contact Navan Garda Station on (046) 907 9930.
Theft
Earlier this month, Agriland reported that dairy farmer, James Phelan was searching for over €20,000 worth of items which were stolen from his farm in Piltown, Co. Kilkenny while he was on a short holiday.
Phelan went on holidays on September 14, leaving a full-time and part-time worker looking after his farm work in Piltown, Co. Kilkenny while he was away.
The farmer received a call five days later that his full-time worker had not showed up to work and that some items were missing.
The incident was reported to gardaí immediately, and on returning home from holidays, Phelan discovered that there two trailers, a power washer, a log splitter, and a car taken.

Meanwhile, gardaí in Co. Galway are investigating a theft in Eyrecourt, outside Ballinasloe during which over €10,000 worth of farm machinery and equipment were stolen from a farmyard in the middle of the night.
Dairy and beef farmer, David Tracey reported the theft to gardaí on October 10 when he discovered that his cattle trailer, Honda diesel power washer, two chainsaws (Still 365 and Huskvarna 355 models) and various other tools were stolen.
