Gardaí: Motorcyclist dies in collision involving tractor in Co. Dublin

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision in Collinstown, Co. Dublin this morning, Saturday, July 12, 2025.

The collision involving a motorcycle and a tractor-trailer occurred on the Old Airport Road, Collinstown Lane at approximately 10:50a.m.

A spokesperson for An Garda Síochána said that the motorcyclist, a male in his 60s, was brought to the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital where he has since been pronounced deceased.

According to the spokesperson, no other injuries were reported.

The spokesperson said: "The road remains closed at this time to facilitate a technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators. Local diversions are in place.

"Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to contact them," the spokesperson added.

Gardaí are asking any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area between 10:30a.m and 11:15a.m this morning to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.

Separately, the Road Safety Authority (RSA) is asking road users to exercise caution on the roads this weekend as Met Eireann has issued Status Yellow weather warnings for high temperatures between July 12-13.

There are Status Yellow warnings for Carlow, Cavan, Dublin, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Longford, Louth, Meath, Monaghan, Offaly, Roscommon, Tipperary, and Westmeath from 12:00p.m. on Friday to 6:00a.m Saturday.

Temperatures could be in excess of 27°C. Potential impacts are water safety issues due to increased use of lakes/beaches, forest fires a possibility, uncomfortable sleeping.

In high temperatures, the RSA is advising road users, particularly drivers, to be aware of the dangers posed by sun glare.

This can result in drivers being temporarily dazzled or blinded by the intensity and brightness of the sun.
