Gardaí: Teenager dies after collision involving tractor in Leitrim

Gardaí have confirmed that a teenager has died following a road traffic collision involving a tractor in Co. Leitrim today (Tuesday, April 15).

The fatal single-vehicle road traffic collision happened at Aghavilla, Carrigallen at approximately 3:10p.m.

A male passenger of the tractor, aged in his late teens, was later pronounced deceased at the scene.

The male driver of the tractor, aged in his late teens, was conveyed to Cavan General Hospital for treatment of injuries believed to be non-life-threatening at this time.

The road remains closed for technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators. Local diversions are in place.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to this incident to come forward.

Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area between 2:30p.m and 3:30p.m are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.

Meanwhile, gardaí have renewed their appeal for information from the public following a fatal crash involving a car and a ride-on lawnmower.

The fatal collision happened on the N76 at Kilcash Cross, Co. Tipperary at approximately 9:45p.m on Friday (April 11).

A man, aged in his 30s, travelling on the ride-on lawnmower, was later pronounced deceased at the scene.

His body was removed to the mortuary at University Hospital Waterford for a post-mortem examination. 

Gardaí said that there were no other injuries reported as a result of the incident.
