Gardaí in Co. Meath are appealing to motorists to take extra care while driving, as the number of tractors, trailers, and other farm machinery using the roads increases at this time of the year.
An Garda Síochána is asking the public to be patient if they are travelling behind a tractor, or any slow-moving vehicle, and not to attempt to overtake farm machinery in a dangerous manner.
In a social media post, gardaí in Co. Meath said: "Always be on the look-out for farm machinery exiting fields and farm yards."
According to the gardaí, farmers also need to be safety conscious while using the roads.
Farmers are being advised to keep left, when safe to do so, in order to allow others to pass safely.
"Never use your mobile phone whilst driving on public roads," the gardaí added.
