The Irish Hereford Breed Society is set to host its Premier Hereford Autumn Bull sale Saturday, October 12 at GVM Tullamore Mart, Co. Offaly.
The society-run special show and sale of pedigree-registered Hereford bulls has almost 30 bulls catalogued. Each bull has been pre-inspected on farm with only the best of bulls being presented for sale on the day, according to the society.
This Saturday's sale marks the first Hereford Society sale of the autumn and provides "the ideal opportunity for farmers to purchase their next top herd sire", the society added.
Each bull on offer in the sale will be be sire verified, semen checked, export tested and tested free from Hypotrichosis.
The pre-sale show will kick off at 11:00a.m. with the sale getting underway at 1:00p.m. and the auctioneer in the sale is Eamonn Gaffney.
In other pedigree cattle sale news, Gary McKiernan's Corlismore Herd hosted a timed production sale of pedigree cattle.
Bidding in the sale drew to a close on Monday evening, October 7, and the sale featured a selection of pedigree Hereford, Angus and Charolais cattle.
Taking to top price in the sale was Lot 1, a January 2023 born Angus heifer Corlismore Biene Z222.
Sired by Fordel Lockdown P827 and her dam was Corlismore Biene V050, this heifer had secured a price of €6,700 when the sale drew to a close.
There were five pedigree Herefords in the sale and Corlismorepoll 1 Oyster 258 was the top-priced Hereford lot making €3,500.
This September 2023 born heifer was sired by by Corlismore 1 Declan 173 and her dam was Corlismore Oyster 789.
