Kepak to hold Co. Cork farm walk discussing efficiency and sustainability.
Brian and Noelle O'Keeffe will open up the gates to their mixed dairy, beef and tillage farm in Glanworth, Co. Cork on Wednesday, August 13.
The event running from 6.00p.m to 9.00p.m will launch Kepak's new sustainability initiative, which is themed "Forward Together With Every Step".
The event will primarily focus on farm efficiency and sustainability, with key speakers discussing market insights, animal health, genetics, and funding supports.
O’Keeffe said: "We're delighted to host this farm walk with Kepak and are looking forward to welcoming the farming community in Munster, our neighbours, and friends to our farm.
"We’ll be showcasing what we’ve done to promote on farm efficiency, as well as the steps we have taken to ensure we can continually breed profitable and productive animals."
The company stated that there will be a 'strong' line up of speakers on the day, including Kepak's commercial sales director Chris Watson and Bord Bia senior manager for meat and livestock Joe Burke, who will talk about market trends and customer demand.
For farmers interested in genetics, ICBF's Chris Daly and Kepak procurement team's Edward Quinn and Craig Buttimer will be having an open discussion on the topic.
Millvalley Veterinary Clinic's Pat Noonan and MSD's Ruminant Area veterinary manager Emma Sargent will be chatting about animal health and vaccination protocols.
In addition, Kepak's Luke McDermott and Seamus Shealy will discuss sustainability supports and funding.
Kepak procurement manager, Edward Quinn said: “The team at Kepak Cork is looking forward to hosting this farm walk in partnership with Brian and Noelle O’Keeffe.
"Kepak Cork works with an extensive network of supplier farmers like the O’Keeffe’s, many of whom have been with the company since its inception.
"These long-standing relationships span across Munster and beyond, ensuring a consistent and high-quality supply of livestock.”
Quinn said the walk will provide farmers with the opportunity to hear from industry experts on current pressing matters in the sector.
He added: "It’s also a chance to learn more about the many supply options Kepak offers to support sustainable and profitable beef farming.”
