Watch: Fertiliser spreading made easy

Irish farmers understand the importance of accuracy and efficiency when it comes to fertiliser spreading.

Rising input costs mean every kilogram of fertiliser counts, and with its launch in Ireland, the Kverneland Exacta TL GEOSPREAD iDC offers a reliable way to improve spreading performance and control costs.

Already proven in other markets, the iDC (Intelligent Disc Control) brings advanced features designed to meet the demands of Irish tillage and grassland farming.

For farmers already familiar with the Exacta range, the iDC model builds on trusted Kverneland technology to offer even better precision and ease of use.

The iDC system is what sets the TL GEOSPREAD iDC apart. It gives independent control of the left and right discs, allowing for accurate fertiliser application along field borders and throughout the field.

This system works seamlessly with Kverneland’s CentreFlow spreading system, which prevents fertiliser fragmentation and ensures even spreading.

Farmers who have used Kverneland spreaders know how important this is for getting the most out of every load of fertiliser.

Padraig Kehoe, a tillage farmer in Wexford, explained: “At current fertiliser prices, there’s no room for inaccuracy. The Kverneland spreader ensures an even spread pattern, even on slopes, and that makes a big difference.”

The iDC takes things further by automatically adjusting the disc speed and spreading width to match field conditions, ensuring that fertiliser is applied exactly where it’s needed.

The GEOSPREAD system, a feature across the Exacta range, works with GPS to prevent overlap and minimise waste.

It divides the working width into 1m sections, adjusting the application rate and width automatically based on the field shape.

MULTIRATE Technology, another feature of the GEOSPREAD system, lets farmers apply different fertiliser rates within a single working width.

Farmers often highlight the importance of simplicity in their machinery, and the iDC doesn’t disappoint.

The AutosetApp lets operators control all adjustments from the cab, so there’s no need to step out of the tractor to tweak settings.

“I find it very handy that field data can be stored on the device and transferred easily to a laptop. It’s a great feature for keeping track of applications and planning ahead," Kehoe said.

The iDC also uses a hydraulic drive system instead of a traditional PTO shaft. This reduces wear and tear, makes the spreader easier to maintain, and improves fuel efficiency.

The CentreFlow spreading system ensures even distribution, even on slopes or in windy conditions, while protecting fertiliser quality by preventing fragmentation or dust.

A double overlap spreading pattern gives unrivalled accuracy. The eight vanes per disc ensure a continuous flow of fertiliser to the field. This is important for high capacity spreading and forward speed.

The iDC model builds on this durability with additional features like continuous calibration and weigh cells, which ensure accuracy, whatever the terrain may be.

Now standard on the Exacta GEOSPREAD range, Kverneland Sync connects your spreader to the IsoMatch FarmCentre and Kverneland ServiceCentre for real-time data sharing, which helps with the following:

  • Monitor tasks: Track operations and progress from the FarmCentre;
  • Remote diagnostics: Minimise downtime with quick troubleshooting from Kverneland technicians;
  • Optimised performance: Continuous data flow ensures efficiency and productivity.

With Kverneland Sync, spreading operations are now fully integrated into a connected farm management system, improving convenience and performance.

The Kverneland Exacta TL GEOSPREAD iDC is already well-regarded in other markets, and its arrival in Ireland gives farmers the opportunity to experience its benefits first-hand.

With its ability to save on fertiliser costs, improve spreading accuracy, and simplify operation, the iDC is an ideal choice for Irish tillage and grassland farmers.

Kverneland product manager, Leonard Hovenden said: “Farmers are finding that Kverneland spreaders make their fertiliser go further, and that’s more important now than ever.

“The iDC builds on that foundation, offering even greater precision and efficiency for Irish farms.”
