Manorhamilton Livestock Sales in Co. Leitrim is set to host a fatstock show and sale this Saturday, December 14, with approximately 260 head of cattle on offer in the sale.

Speaking to Agriland ahead of the event, Manorhamilton Mart’s Ava Moffitt said there is approximately €4,000 in prize money up for grabs in the pre-sale show.

She explained that judging will kick off at 10:00a.m. and the sale will commence as soon as judging has been completed.

The judge in the show will be Dermot Small and the auctioneers will be Tom Cox and Rodney Windrum.

There are a total of 13 classes to be judged on the day and an overall and reserve champion will be selected from these.

The classes on the day are as follows:

  • CHX 2024 Weanling Bull;
  • LMX 2024 Weanling Bull;
  • BBX 2024 Weanling Bull;
  • Any other breed 2024 Weanling Bull;
  • Any other breed 2024 under 270kg weanling bull;
  • (Heifer/Bullock) Housewife’s Choice;
  • (2022/2023) Breeding Heifer Championship;
  • CHX 2024 Weanling Heifer;
  • LMX 2024 Weanling Heifer;
  • BBX 2024 Weanling Heifer;
  • Any other breed 2024 Weanling Heifer;
  • Any other breed 2024 under 270kg weanling Heifer;
  • Overall and Reserve Champion.

All cattle competing in the show must be halter trained and unaltered cattle can be sold on the day after their class.

The mart management has reminded potential buyers from Northern Ireland that there will be export available on the day to Northern Ireland for all eligible cattle, but buyers must be registered beforehand on TRACES through the UK authorities.
