On the Merlo stand there will be three TurboFarmer models all offering a 7m boom height with lift capacities ranging from 3.3t to 4.2t.
However, boom height and lift capacity are only two measures of a telehandler's utility; power is also hugely important for getting a job done, whether it be climbing a power sapping silage pit or accelerating around a yard with a full load.
It is here that the smallest machine, the Merlo 33.7, scores well for it has a 115hp Deutz engine nestling under the bonnet which should easily reduce cycle times given the power it has available.
Next up is the Merlo 35.7, a bigger machine with an extra 21hp although only a 200kg lifting advantage. Yet it is heavier and wider giving more stability to go with the greater capacity.
The largest farm orientated machine on show will be the Merlo 42.7 which is intended for larger farmers with grain lorries to fill or large quantities of silage to move around.
The hydraulic pump has a generous capacity of 139L/min.
For the construction industry there will be the Roto 50.30 S Plus which has a 30m lift height, 5t capacity, and is powered by a Stage V 170hp engine, making it an impressive machine to park at the entrance to the site.
Also at the show will be the electrically-powered EW25.5 which relies on well proven lead acid batteries rather than the less robust lithium-ion type.
Although unlikely to prove popular on busy farms, there is a place for battery power in many situations and Merlo will demonstrate that it too can fill these niches.
Meanwhile Agriland is currently collaborating with Merlo to give farmers the opportunity to win the free use of a Merlo Multifarmer telescopic handler from mid-January to mid-December 2025 or for 1,000 recorded operating hours, whichever comes first.
The machine is a telescopic handler equipped with a three-point rear linkage, rear mechanical PTO, and a hydraulic pick-up hitch, making it ideal for handling, towing, and light field tasks.
The prize also includes pallet forks, a bucket, and a muck fork with grab.
The prize draw is open to residents of the Republic of Ireland who are 18 years-of-age or older at the time of entry and engaged in dairy/livestock farming activities.
