Met Éireann has said that weather conditions will be unsettled this week with frequent wet and breezy spells.
The national forecaster said that today (Monday, February 17) will be cloudy with scattered falls of rain and drizzle.
The rain is expected to be heaviest in the south and west, much of the eastern half of the country will stay dry until the evening.
Highest afternoon temperatures of 5 to 11°C, feeling mildest in Munster. It will be breezy with a moderate to fresh and gusty southeast wind, stronger near coasts.
A Status Yellow weather warning for heavy falls of rain in counties Cork, Kerry and Waterford will come into force from 9:00a.m today and remain in place until 6:00a.m tomorrow.
The conditions will bring a risk of spot flooding, poor visibility and difficult travelling conditions.
Tonight will be wet and breezy across the country, lowest temperatures of 4 to 9° in a fresh southeast wind.
On Tuesday morning, there will be scattered falls of rain and drizzle, clearing to the north as the day progresses.
Highest daytime temperatures of 7 to 12°, mildest for the west and southwest of the country. The fresh southeast winds will persist through the day.
After a mostly dry and cloudy start, Tuesday night will see rain in the southwest extend northeastwards during the night. The rain will gradually clear from the west and southwest.
The moderate to fresh southeasterly winds will ease and veer southerly. Lowest temperatures of 4 to 9°.
Wednesday will be mostly cloudy with some sunny spells in the morning. However, showers will develop in the southwest in the late morning and move across the country.
Highest afternoon temperatures of 11 to 13° in mostly moderate, occasionally fresh southerly winds.
During Wednesday night the showery rain, which will be heavy in parts, will clear to the northeast. This will be followed by another band of rain pushing into the southwest and west by morning.
Overnight temperatures will range from 7 to 10°, with mostly moderate southerly winds that will freshen towards morning.
There will be heavy or thundery falls of rain on Thursday, clearing to the east in the afternoon with sunny spells and showers to follow.
Highest temperatures of 11 to 14°, with fresh to strong and gusty south to southwest winds.
On Friday, there will be further widespread rain with localised flooding possible. Again, the rain will clear eastwards later in the day.
Mostly moderate to fresh southwest winds with highest daytime temperatures of 9 to 13°.
