More farmers in Co. Cork get solar grants under TAMS 3 compared to any other county

Farmers nationwide have received a total €12.6 million in grants to install solar panels, government figures show.

More farmers in Co. Cork applied and were approved for Solar Capital Investment Scheme (SCIS) grants under the The Targeted Agricultural Modernisation Scheme (TAMS 3) compared to any other county.

According to the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Martin Heydon SCIS has "proved extremely popular with 3,741 applications received across the first eight tranches of TAMS 3".

"A total of 923 applicants have successfully installed solar panels and submitted a payment claim," the minister added.

According to DAFM the SCIS grant aid is only paid "on approved, completed, and eligible expenditure" and is paid at the rate of 60% up to the applicable maximum investment ceiling of €90,000 per holding.
