A Status Yellow wind and rain weather warning is now in place for 10 counties from 02:00a.m tomorrow (Sunday, February 23) until 3.00p.m in the afternoon, according to Met Éireann.
The wind and rain warning now includes Carlow, Kilkenny, Wexford, Wicklow, Munster, Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo and Sligo.
According to Met Éireann the weather conditions in the ten counties could lead to:
Separately the national meteorological service has also issued a Status Yellow wind warning for Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo and Sligo from 3:00p.m tomorrow (Sunday, February 23) until midnight.
It has forecast "very strong and gusty southwesterly winds" which could lead to difficult travel conditions and fallen trees and loose debris.
Meanwhile in Northern Ireland a Yellow weather warning has also been issued for tomorrow.
The UK Met Office has stated that a wind warning will come into effect for Antrim, Armagh, Down, Fermanagh, Tyrone, Derry from 3.00a.m until 3.00p.m.
It has warned that this will result in "strong winds" which may lead to some disruption on Sunday.
In its latest farming commentary Met Éireann has advised that the coming week’s weather will be unsettled, with frequent spells of rain and showers.
“The wettest conditions will be in western and southwest coastal areas with drier conditions through the midlands and east,” it stated.
The latest farming commentary also outlined that mean air temperatures over the past week have ranged from 10.7° in the southwest to 4.9° in the north.
According to the national meteorological service the past week has been much duller than average nationwide, particularly in the east and southeast.
However although the week ahead will be generally unsettled, some spells of sunshine "will occur".
"Sunshine amounts will be below normal, but will likely increase relative to the past week.
"Drying will generally be poor in the coming week due to frequent spells of rain and showers," Met Éireann stated.
