Thousands of farmers and machinery enthusiasts attended this year’s Farm Tractor and Machinery Trade Association’s (FTMTA) Grass and Muck event in Gurteen College, Co. Tipperary today.
The event, which was aptly named after the showers over the last couple of days, highlighted the latest advancements in farm machinery.
Grass and Muck – Grass Machinery
There was a particular focus on grass equipment, with a number of the leading manufactures exhibiting their latest mowers, tedders, wrappers and balers.

Leading international machinery companies including Lely and Krone showed their latest machinery offerings, while Irish companies McHale and Malone held demonstrations of their grassland products.
A number of companies also showed their latest tedders and with the silage season approaching, it was a perfect time for farmers and contractors a like to size up the machines available on the market.
Once the tedding and baling of silage has been completed, the next step is wrapping and Lely were on hand with its Lely Attis PT130 wrapper.
Slurry and Manure spreading equipment
The event also featured a section on slurry and manure spreading. The latest trailing shoe technology was on show, with most companies exhibiting units fitted the emission reducing device.
The demand for slurry spreaders fitted with trailing shoes is likely to increase over the next couple of years, as some farmers are required to carry out Low Emission Slurry Spreading under GLAS.
