RSA: Average national waiting time for driving test now 14.1 weeks

The Road Safety Authority (RSA) has today (Thursday, July 31) reported another reduction in driving test waiting times.

As of July 26, the authority said the average national wait now at 14.1 weeks, down from the peak of 27 weeks earlier this year.

In response to a sharp rise in demand for testing, the RSA said it implemented "a targeted action plan" which has resulted in "shorter waiting times.

Following support from the Department of Transport, additional driver testers have been recruited and the scheduling for testing has been expanded to increase availability.

“We understand how important the driving test is in people’s lives – for work, education, and independence.

"While challenges remain, we’re working hard to ensure everyone gets fair and timely access to testing, and we’re encouraged by the progress made so far," Brendan Walsh, chief operating officer at RSA, said.
