Scheme payments worth €1.4m issued by DAFM

The Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine (DAFM) issued almost €1.4 million in various scheme payments to farmers last week.

The latest data, published by the department, shows that an additional €388,951 was paid out in the week up to April 4 under the 2024 Basic Income Support for Sustainability (BISS) and Complimentary Redistributive Income Support for Sustainability (CRISS).

Approximately 119,177 farmers have now received a total of €841.7 million in payments under these schemes.

The BISS/CRISS figure includes the 2024 Complementary Income Support for Young Farmers of €36.6 million and the 2024 National Reserve of €3.1 million

Over €800,000 was also issued to farmers last week under the Targeted Agricultural Modernisation Schemes (TAMS).

€791,000 was paid out under the new TAMS 3 last week, while a further €50,000 was issued under TAMS 2.

€55.7 million has now been paid out to date under TAMS 3 across 6,296 claims.

26,006 applications for the scheme have been approved by the department, with 8,170 payment applications submitted.

The department paid out a further €57,000 to farmers for the Areas of Natural Constraint (ANC) and Areas of Specific Constraint (ASC).

DAFM issued €99,000 to participants in the Organic Farming Scheme (OFS), with total payments for the 2024 scheme now standing at €48.5 million.

An additional €4,000 was issued last week to farmers under under the Green, Low-carbon, Agri-Environment Scheme (GLAS).

GLAS ended on December 31, 2022 and the final payments under the scheme commenced in March 2023.
