Met Éireann has issued a Status Yellow rain warning for some south-eastern counties, including: Carlow, Wexford and Wicklow.
The warning will come into place from this evening (Tuesday, October 15) at 6:00p.m, until midnight on Wednesday, October 16.
The national forecaster has warned of heavy rain with embedded thunderstorms. Possible impacts include localised flooding, travel disruption and hazardous travelling conditions.
Light to moderate southeasterly winds will continue nationwide, with what the forecaster described as “occasionally fresh and gusty”.
Tomorrow will be mostly cloudy with scattered outbreaks of rain, clearing to sunny spells and isolated from the south and west during the afternoon and evening with rain lingering in parts of the north and east through the day.
Status Yellow warning
The UK Met Office has also issued a Status Yellow rain warning for counties: Armagh and Down.
“Spells of heavy rain may bring some disruption to parts of southeast Northern Ireland,” the UK Met Office has stated.
The warning is valid from midnight tonight until 6:00a.m tomorrow morning, with expected spray and flooding on roads probably making journey times longer.
During the next seven days, rainfall amounts will be above average in most parts of the country.
About 30-40mm is expected widely with 50-70mm in some southern and western areas possible.
Drying and spraying conditions will be generally poor for the remainder of the week with rain and showers.
Most soils are currently saturated or close to saturation and even waterlogged in parts of the northwest and south, according to Met Éireann.
Soil conditions will deteriorate in the next seven days, all well drained soils will be saturated with most moderately and poorly drained soils becoming waterlogged.
