Met Éireann has issued several weather warnings ahead of the arrival of Storm Floris on Bank Holiday Monday (August 4).

The national forecaster said the storm will bring very strong winds and rain, particularly in western and northwestern coastal counties.

In an update to its previous weather advisory, Met Éireann has now issued three Status Yellow weather warnings.

The alerts currently apply to eight counties.

The first Status Yellow wind warning for Clare, Galway, Mayo, Sligo will be valid from 2:00a.m until 1:00p.m on Monday.

A similar warning for Cavan, Donegal, Monaghan, Leitrim will be in place from 4:00a.m to 4:00p.m on Monday.

A Status Yellow rainfall warning for Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo, Sligo has been issued from 2:00a.m to 10:00a.m on Monday.

Met Éireann

Met Éireann has warned that Storm Floris will bring "very strong and blustery southwest winds veering westerly, with some damaging gusts".

The conditions may result in dangerous travelling conditions; structural damage; fallen trees; debris and loose objects.

Some areas may have lightning damage and localised flooding.

There may be power outages, wave overtopping and outdoor events could be impacted.
