With LAMMA fast approaching, manufacturers are letting it be known that that not only will they be there, but also what they will be bringing along to Birmingham in January, and it is New Holland and JCB who are the latest to declare their hand.

The news from New Holland, is that the event will see the first showing of its new T5 Dual Command. This is part art of the new T5 series, which comprises five models from 80-117hp all powered by FPT F36 3.6L four-cylinder engines.

The tractor has been given a new look and a series of updates designed to improve productivity and operator comfort. Alongside fresh styling, the T5 Dual Command tractors benefit from mechanical Comfort Ride cab suspension, wet disc front PTO and a rear lift capacity boost of 7% to 4,700kg.

The range can now also be equipped with telematics, which have now trickled down from only higher power models, including autoguidance, the IntelliView 12 touchscreen terminal, plus an ISOBUS Class 2 implement connection.

The company will also be showing its CR9.90 combine and the long wheelbase T7, which not only offers increased operator comfort but also the latest in digital advances for smart farming.

Another tractor to feature on the stand, will be the two millionth model produced at Basildon – a figure which has been matched by only a very few tractor plants across the world.

JCB flies the flag

This being a British show and JCB being proud of its British heritage, the company is bringing along a full suite of new machines to introduce to its agricultural customers.

The JCB Loadall Telehandler is now a farm icon, but that does not stop JCB further refining and adding to the line up and the new top-spec AGRI Pro versions of the 538-60 and 560-80 will be on display.

The first of these, brings the 50kph DualTech VT hydro-mechanical transmission to the 6m class providing hydrostatic drive for precision low-speed control and auto powershift direct drive for efficient field and road travel.

Another addition to the Loadall range, is the 542-100 which combines 4.2t lift capacity and 9.8m lift height, with the 40kph or 50kph DualTech VT transmission.

This is specifically aimed at operators who require an extra high lift capacity for stacking bales.

Farm sized loaders

JCB’s telescopic wheeled loader range gets two all-new mid-range machines – the TM280 with 109hp and hydrostatic drive, and the TM280S with 130hp and DualTech VT hydro-mechanical drive both in no wider than than 2m wide and 2.6m tall.

To create machines this compact, JCB has a new chassis design that houses the powertrain in as low a position as possible, while still delivering 2.75t lift capacity and 4.8m lift height.

The basic requirement when handling muck and silage is power, especially the latter as soft silage faces soak up the energy from the engine when pits are being loaded.

JCB has addressed this issue with its 435S heavy-duty silage and muck loader. This gains significant increase in power and torque throughout the engine’s operating speed range, with peak power up 12% to 282hp equating to a 19hp per tonne power-to-weight ratio.

LAMMA will be held on January 15 and 16 at the NEC in Birmingham.
