The latest sale of Bord na Mona assets is to be held by Wilsons Auctions on Saturday, August 9, 2025, with the first lot going under the hammer at 11:00a.m.
In this sale, there is the usual selection of tractors but there are also engineering items and supplies for those who may be looking to better equip their farm workshop.
These range from workbenches to milling machines via pedestal grinders and welders. While items like professional lathes might be a little over the top for many farms, bandsaws and overhead gantries are far more likely to be found a home in the shed.
Hydraulic presses are often a required item if bearings are to be replaced or steel bent into shape before welding and there are several available.
With regard to tractors, there are at least 17 up for sale, with New Holland and John Deere featuring strongly in the mix.
Most of the machines lie in the 100-150hp bracket.
Excavators and bulldozers are also going under the hammer.
In addition, there is a huge selection of tractor tyres, many of them coming as sets of duals. The lots feature all the quality brands, such as Pirelli and Michelin.
The sale itself is a live event held at Dublin but the lots may be viewed beforehand - strictly by appointment - on Saturday, August 2, Tuesday, August 5, and Wednesday, August 6, from 10:00a.m-3:00p.m.
For those unable to get to the sale, it will be streamed live online with bids being taken via the web. All customers will be required to register before being able to enter a bid.
Ricky Wilson, grandson of the company founder William Wilson, is delighted that the auction business is back to being one of people doing business with each other on a personal basis.
Whether that is with the auctioneer or between themselves on the day, Ricky believes that these events provide a platform for people from all over the country - and further afield - to meet and foster relationships within the trade.
