The school, based in Tullamore, is currently teaching their 42 students with additional educational needs in a temporary site.

The premises, once an old jail, does not have any insulation or natural sunlight, leading to high utility bills which exceed the amount provided by the school grant.

On top of this, the school's facilities and resources are limited, meaning students often need to travel offsite for extracurricular activities.

Despite all of this, the school says it remains committed to providing the best learning environment possible for their students.

Tullamore Show chairperson, John Keena said; “It’s a privilege to give back to those who most need it in our local community."

He went on to say that they receive requests from various charities each year, and that the decision to choose the school was unanimous among the executive.

Keena finished by saying; "We look forward to having them front and centre on Sunday, August 10.”

Principal of Offaly School of Special Education, Ed Graham said the school is "honoured and extremely grateful to have been chosen as the sole charity partner for the upcoming Tullamore Show.”

"Being selected as the charity partner of the Tullamore Show is not only a tremendous honour, but also a crucial opportunity to raise awareness and much-needed funds to support our students, staff, and families."

Graham stated that the funds raised by the show will help them improve learning conditions for their pupils, as well as providing the necessary required resources.

He added; "We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the organisers of the Tullamore Show for selecting our school, and to the wider Offaly community for always supporting and standing behind us.”

The school recently announced plans to build a new state-of-the-art premises in the near future, after recent successful fundraising efforts.
