Valtra S series continues to harvest design awards

Valtra is enjoying a good run of recognition with its sixth generation S Series tractor, which has taken away three major design awards in one year.

The Finnish tractor brand has walked away with a Good Design Award, If Design Award, and now the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2025.

The company is naturally delighted with what it describes as a remarkable feat that has never been achieved before by any tractor brand.

Valtra claims that Red Dot judges were so impressed with the S Series design and attention to user experience that they awarded the tractor the Red Dot: Best of the Best Award.

This is said to be an an unprecedented move, having never been conferred on a tractor before. The extra recognition is the highest distinction in the competition and only awarded to truly pioneering designs.

Kimmo Wihinen, head of industrial design and user experience at Valtra, believes the award is recognition of Valtra's long-standing commitment to these factors, where the customer is always at the centre of everything they do.

Since 2011, the Finnish brand has won nine Red Dot Awards - more than any other tractor brand. Winners will be invited to a Red Dot Gala event on July 8, 2025 in Essen, Germany.

The Valtra S series comprises six models starting at 280hp with the S286, while at the top end the S416 produces 420hp.

This is a rated power of 420hp, which is all available for traction as the transmission is robust enough to handle it, making the model quite distinct from many of its competitors, which can only achieve a high output when the power take-off (PTO) is engaged.

The engine fitted to all models is now the LX84 TN, a unit that still has plenty of developmental life in it yet, according to AGCO Engineers, even though the new Core engine is now being fitted to Fendts.
