Weather: Fairly mixed week ahead with cloud and showers

The weather this week will be fairly mixed, with plenty of cloud and several outbreaks of rain, some of which will be heavy, although there will be some dry patches also, according to Met Éireann.

Today (Monday, October 7), there will be a mix of sunny spells and scattered showers, some heavy. Rain will develop in the southeast later in the evening.

Highest temperatures today will be 14° to 18° in a light to moderate south to southeast wind.

There will be clear spells and isolated showers in most areas early tonight but there will be cloud and outbreaks of rain in the southeast. This rain will extend further to the north and west overnight. Lowest temperatures will be 7° to 12° with light to moderate east to northeast winds.

Tomorrow (Tuesday, October 8), will be mostly cloudy with outbreaks of rain. The best of any sunny spells will be in the south. Some heavy showers are possible in the southeast later in the day. Highest temperatures will be 13° to 16° with light to moderate northerly winds.

Tomorrow night will be mostly cloudy with outbreaks of rain, possibly heavy in the southeast. Lowest temperatures will be 8° to 12° with light to moderate northerly winds.

Wednesday morning (October 9) will be quite cloudy, with outbreaks of rain mainly in the northwest and southeast. There will be some drier and brighter weather as the day goes on with sunny spells developing in many areas. Highest temperatures will be 9° to 14° with a light to moderate northerly breeze.

Wednesday night will see clear spells and scattered showers, mainly in the north and west. Some showers are possible near the east coast too, where it will be cloudier. It will be colder than previous nights, with lows of 3° to 7°, in a light to moderate northwesterly wind.

Thursday (October 10) is set to be mostly dry with sunny spells but a few showers will drift into the north and northwest on a light to moderate north to northwest breeze. It will be cool, with temperatures reaching between 8° and 12°.
