The weather forecast for the next few days looks set to bring warm and humid conditions with mostly dry weather apart from a few showery interludes.
According to Met Éireann, many places will be dry today (Monday August 11) with spells of warm sunshine developing.
Rain in the north will gradually clear by early afternoon, with scattered showers following. It will be humid with highest temperatures of 21°C to 26° in southerly breezes.
It will be largely dry at first tonight with clear spells. Well scattered showers may develop later, some possibly heavy or thundery. It will be another mild and humid night with temperatures not falling below 12° to 16° in light south-easterly or variable breezes.
According to Met Éireann it will be dry to begin tomorrow, Tuesday, with spells of sunshine, however, scattered showers may develop through the day.
Highest temperatures will range from 21° to 26° generally in light south-easterly breezes.
It will be largely dry overnight on Tuesday with clear spells and a few showers. Cloudier conditions will build in the south-west later with the possibility of some outbreaks of rain developing towards dawn.
Temperatures again are not expected to fall below 12° to 16° with light southerly or variable breezes.
Wednesday will be another mild and humid day with sunny spells, though showers or showery outbreaks of rain will likely push up from the south with some thunderstorms possible.
Highest temperatures will range from 21° to 25° for most, with light to moderate southerly breezes.
Showers will ease overnight on Wednesday with mostly cloudy conditions and some limited clear spells developing. It will be very mild with temperatures not falling below 14° to 16°, in light to moderate south-westerly breezes.
Thursday will bring a mix of cloud and sunny spells with scattered showers. Highest temperatures of 21° to 25° are expected in light to moderate south-west breezes.
On Friday, there will be sunny spells with light outbreaks of rain breaking up through the day to leave longer spells of sunshine later on.
Highest temperatures will range from 21° to 25° with light variable breezes.
Current indications for next weekend suggest that it will continue warm into the weekend with temperatures generally in the low to mid-20s.
Plenty of dry weather is likely too though further showers are possible at times.
Mainly moderate or good drying conditions can be expected with a lot of dry weather expected overall through the coming week. Showers, possibly heavy, will be a feature from time to time through the week though.
There will be generally plenty of spraying opportunities through the coming week, apart from when showers occur, with long dry intervals and winds generally holding moderate or below.
Currently, most soils across the midlands, south and east have soil moisture deficits (SMDs) of between 20mm and 50mm, while well drained and moderately drained soils in parts of the west and north are close to saturation with some poorly drained soils in those areas saturated.
SMDs look likely to increase slightly over the coming week.
