Weather largely unsettled and cooler than average this week

The weather this week will be largely unsettled, with rain or showers each day of the week and cooler than average temperatures for June, according to Met Éireann.

Today (Tuesday, June 3) will be breezy with a mix of sunshine and scattered showers. Highest temperatures will be 12° to 16°, coolest in the west and northwest, with moderate to fresh and gusty southwest to west winds.

Scattered showers will continue tonight, most frequent in Ulster and north Connacht. There will be fresh and gusty southwest to west winds in the northwest; otherwise winds will be light to moderate. Lowest temperatures will be 5° to 10°.

Tomorrow (Wednesday, June 4) will see a mix of sunny spells and showers, with cloud increasing in southern areas later. Highest temperatures will be 11° to 16°, coolest in the west and northwest, with a moderate westerly breeze.

Tomorrow night will become cloudier with scattered showers continuing and turning into longer spells of rain over the southern half of the country. Lowest temperatures are expected to be 5° to 10° with light to moderate southerly or variable winds.

Rain will clear from the southeast on Thursday morning (June 5), and for the rest of the day, the weather will be a mix of sunny spells and scattered showers. Highest temperatures will be 12° to 16° with light to moderate westerly winds.

Showers will become isolated on Thursday night so most places are set to become dry with long clear spells. Cloud will increase in the west and southwest later though, bringing some light rain. Lowest temperatures are expected to be 6° to 10° with light to moderate west to southwest winds.

On Friday night, rain will clear north-eastwards and will be followed by showers. Lowest temperatures are expected to be 6° to 10° with light to moderate, variable winds.

Sunny spells and scattered showers are expected on Saturday (June 7) and Sunday (June 8), with highest temperatures continuing in the low to mid-teens.
