The first weekend of February will see some rain and showers at times but also plenty of dry weather, according to Met Éireann.

Any frost patches will clear this morning (Friday, January 31) to leave a mostly dry day with sunny spells. It will turn cloudier in the west towards evening with drizzle and mist moving into some Atlantic coastal areas.

Highest temperatures will be 7° to 10° with light west to southwest winds at first but a freshening southerly breeze will develop along the Atlantic seaboard later in the day.

It will become rather breezy tonight with patchy light rain and drizzle developing in the southwest and west.

It looks set to hold mostly dry elsewhere albeit with increasing amounts of cloud. Lowest temperatures will be 2° to 5°, occurring early in the night in eastern counties, but it will turn milder by tomorrow morning (Saturday, February 1).

It will be mostly cloudy and rather breezy tomorrow, with scattered patches of light rain and drizzle.

However, there will be lots of dry weather overall, especially across north Leinster and east Ulster where it may stay completely dry during daylight hours. Maximum temperatures will range from 9° to 12° in fresh to strong southerly winds.

Early tomorrow night, a band of rain will push in from the Atlantic and extend gradually eastwards across the country. A clearance will follow across the western half of the country before dawn on Sunday (February 2).

Lowest temperatures over tomorrow night will be 3° to 7° with fresh and gusty southerly winds veering westerly and easing overnight.

Rain and drizzle in eastern areas will clear quickly on Sunday morning to leave dry and bright weather across the country. There will be good spells of hazy sunshine but it will become overcast in the northwest later in the day.

Highest temperatures on Sunday will be 7° to 10° in moderate to fresh southwest winds.

It looks set to be mostly dry on Sunday night but there is the chance of a little rain or drizzle in Atlantic coastal areas. Lowest temperatures should be 3° to 6° in the east and 7° to 10° in the west. Southerly winds will increase fresh to strong by dawn on Monday (February 3).

It is expected to be a breezy day on Monday, with outbreaks of rain pushing in from the Atlantic to affect the west and northwest.

It is likely to hold mostly dry elsewhere apart from the occasional spot of rain or drizzle. Maximum temperatures on Monday are expected to be 10° to 12° in fresh to strong southerly winds.

On Monday night, outbreaks of rain will extend eastwards across the country, turning heavy at times, especially in the south. Minimum temperatures will be 5° to 8°, with strong southerly winds, veering southwesterly and easing overnight.

Current indications suggest that Tuesday (February 4) will start out cloudy and wet with outbreaks of rain. However, drier and brighter conditions will extend from the west through the morning, Met Éireann said.
