The weather over the weekend and early next week will remain largely mixed and changeable, with frequent rain and cloud, though there will be some bright, dry spells occasionally also, according to Met Éireann.
It will be cold to begin today (Friday, October 11), with any frost and mist clearing in the morning. The rest of the day will be mainly dry with sunny spells, although isolated showers will affect parts of the west and northwest.
Highest temperatures will be 9° to 12° in light to moderate southwest or variable winds.
Tonight will see clear spells with scattered showers near western and northwestern coasts. The showers will turn heavy and may merge to longer spells of rain by morning in the north and west, likely remaining dry further south and east.
Lowest temperatures will be 2° to 5° where clear weather prevails in the south and east, and 6° to 9° elsewhere. There will be light to moderate southwest winds, fresher near northwestern coasts.
Sunny spells with showers in the north and west will spread elsewhere tomorrow morning and afternoon (Saturday, October 12). A clearance to sunny spells will extend to most parts by evening. Highest temperatures will be 10° to 13° generally, but 8° to 10° in Ulster, with light to moderate westerly winds.
Saturday night will be cold and mostly dry with clear spells. Lowest temperatures will be 1° to 5° with light, variable breezes.
Sunday (October 13) will see a mainly dry weather to start, with cloud gradually thickening from the Atlantic through the day. Patchy outbreaks of rain and drizzle will likely affect coastal counties in the south and west from afternoon, with the rain turning heavier and more persistent during Sunday evening and spreading elsewhere.
Highest temperatures of 10° to 13° generally, but 8° to 10° in Ulster. Light to moderate southeasterly breezes will freshen near coasts by evening.
Outbreaks of rain will continue to spread northeastwards over the country on Sunday night. Light to moderate southeast to east breezes will be fresh to strong near coasts. Lowest temperatures should be 5° to 9° degrees, coolest in Ulster.
Any remaining overnight rain will clear eastwards on Monday morning (October 14), gradually brightening up with sunny spells developing and just isolated showers. Highest temperatures will be 11° to 15° in light southerly or variable breezes.
Current indications suggest Tuesday (October 15) will be mostly cloudy with just limited sunny spells. Outbreaks of rain in the south will gradually spread north through the day. Highest temperatures are expected to be 15° to 17°, with moderate to fresh southerly winds.
