Weather to remain unsettled with frequent showers or rain

The weather will remain fairly unsettled over the weekend and into next week, with frequent showers or spells of rain, according to Met Éireann.

It will be mostly cloudy this morning (Friday, July 18) with patchy light rain or drizzle. It will gradually brighten up through the day with some sunny spells and scattered showers developing. The showers will become isolated in the evening.

Highest temperatures today will be 17° to 21° in light to moderate west to south-west winds.

It will be largely cloudy tonight with limited clear spells. Most areas will be dry though there will be a few showers. Rain will develop in the southwest towards morning.

Lowest temperatures tonight will be 10° to 14° with light westerly or variable breezes, becoming south-easterly by morning.

Tomorrow (Saturday, July 19) will see largely dry weather at first, with plenty of cloud and just limited sunny spells. Showery outbreaks of rain will continue to develop in the south-west through the morning, slowly extending over much of Munster through the afternoon and later into south Leinster and south Connacht, bringing the possibility of spot flooding.

It will be drier elsewhere, with sunny spells and scattered showers developing, some of which could be heavy with a chance of isolated thunderstorms. Highest temperatures tomorrow will be 16° to 21°, coolest in the south-west, with moderate, occasionally fresh south-easterly winds developing, strong at times on southern coasts.

Showery outbreaks of rain will continue to slowly extend northwards tomorrow night over much of the country, reaching northern areas towards morning as drier and clearer conditions develop in the south. Lowest temperatures are expected to be 10° to 15° in moderate cyclonic variable winds.

Sunday (July 20) will see a mix of sunny weather with showers or showery outbreaks of rain, heavy at times with possible thunderstorms, especially in the north. It will be driest generally in southern areas.

Highest temperatures on Sunday should be 17° to 22° with moderate cyclonic variable winds easing light westerly through the day.
