Weekend weather to be mixed, but turning more settled next week

The weather over this bank holiday weekend will be fairly mixed, with a good bit of rain and cloud, but it will become more settled early next week, according to Met Éireann.

There will be scattered outbreaks of rain or drizzle across the country this morning (Friday, October 25). It will become drier and brighter in most areas through the afternoon as the cloud and rain clears northwards, although some showers will linger in the south.

East to northeast winds will be mostly light to moderate but will be fresh at times in the south and west. Highest temperatures will be 13° to 16°.

Tonight, there will be clear spells and scattered showers in the south but it will be largely dry elsewhere. Patches of mist and fog will form in light to moderate easterly or variable winds. Lowest temperatures will be 5° to 10°, mildest in the southeast.

There will be scattered showers and occasional sunny spells for most areas tomorrow morning (Saturday, October 26) but it will become cloudy with rain in the west and northwest. The rain will move southeast across the country through the day, with sunny spells and just isolated showers following.

Highest temperatures tomorrow will be 12° to 15° with light to moderate southerly winds becoming northwesterly after the rain clears.

Tomorrow night will see isolated showers in the north, but otherwise it will be dry with clear spells. It will also be colder than previous nights, with lows of 2° to 6°, in light westerly or variable winds.

Cloud will increase on Sunday morning (October 27) and outbreaks of rain will develop in the west. The rain will move east during the afternoon and evening and will be heaviest in the west and northwest.

Parts of the southeast will see dry weather until evening. Highest temperatures on Sunday should be 11° to 14° with moderate south to southwest winds developing.

Sunday night will be cloudy with scattered outbreaks of rain. Lowest temperatures are expected to be 9° to 13° with light to moderate southwesterly winds.
