Teagasc is looking to fill a number of vacancies for a forage breeding technologist and technicians.

The advisory and research authority is looking for a forage breeding technologist to join the team at Teagasc Oak Park in Co. Carlow.

The role will involve working on all aspects of the breeding cycle, from planting and evaluation to harvesting and analysis. The candidate will gain practical and technical experience in both lab and field settings using the latest technologies and equipment, including state of the art harvesting machinery.

Key responsibilities will include, among others: designing, planning and executing field, lab and glasshouse experiments; monitoring, managing and evaluating plant performance and data; and operating breeding equipment and supporting data analysis.

Teagasc is looking for candidates with technical and scientific background in agriculture, plant science, biology, or a related field.

Teagasc is also seeking to fill two vacancies for forage breeding technicians, who will also be based as Teagasc Oak Park.

The responsibilities associated with these roles, as well as the requirements for candidates, are broadly similar to the forage breeding technologist role outlined above.

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting and managing the forage breedingprogrammes in the breeding of improved varieties of forage grass, legumes and herbs.

This will include significant hands-on work in the field, glasshouse and laboratory, plus the assignment, supervision, and management of technical, farm and casual staff to efficiently complete all tasks to the required standard in the correct order and in a timely manner.

Glynns Agrichoice, a retail agri-store catering to farmers in north Co. Galway and south Co. Mayo, is seeking to hire a retail branch/sales manager, to be based at Milltown, Co. Galway.

The job is described as a "hands-on leadership role" ideal for someone who is confident, ambitious and motivated.

Candidates should have a proven track record in retail management with strong management experience, and it would be an advantage to have a management qualification or similar business qualification.

The role will involve controlling and analysing key performance indicators to ensure targets are met, and leading a "safety first" culture, among other responsibilities.

Boyne Valley Farmers Co-op, which represents dairy farmers in the northeast, is looking to take on a development manager to co-ordinate the smooth running of the co-op, with a particular focus on establishing relationships with suppliers.

The development manager will also manage tender processes across a wide range of product and service categories, and effective communication with farmer members, the executive board and the chairperson.

The co-op is looking for a professional individual with commercial negotiating experience; good communication and social skills; and computer and data analytical ability.
