Whitechurch Macra is marking its 65th anniversary this year with a dinner dance on Saturday, March 22 at the Silver Springs Hotel, Co. Cork, the highlight of the celebrations.
"Macra has played a pivotal role in Whitechurch since the club's founding.
"Whitechurch Macra has a proud history of advocating for, nurturing, and developing young people aged 17-35 in a fun, inclusive, and supportive environment," said Whitechurch club PRO, Denis O'Sullivan.
"The Whitechurch community and surrounding areas have continuously supported the club, and Whitechurch Macra remains deeply grateful for this unwavering encouragement."
Whitechurch Macra extends beyond just the Whitechurch area, serving young people from Blarney, Waterloo, Grenagh, Carraig na bhFear, and Glenville.
"This wide reach strengthens the club, bringing together members with diverse talents and skills," O'Sullivan said.
To mark its 65th anniversary, the club has been organising a number of social events, actively participating in Macra competitions, and giving back to the local communities, he said.
"This special evening will be a joyous occasion, uniting past and present members to reflect on and celebrate Whitechurch Macra’s incredible achievements over the last 65 years.
"Attendees can look forward to a night filled with camaraderie, entertainment, and recognition of the club’s legacy," O'Sullivan said.
He emphasised the importance of the milestone for the club and the community.
"Whitechurch Macra has been a cornerstone of our community for 65 years, providing young people with opportunities for personal growth, leadership, and lifelong friendships," O'Sullivan said.
"This anniversary is a chance to celebrate our rich history, acknowledge the contributions of past and present members, and look forward to an even brighter future.
"Whitechurch Macra is a dynamic youth organisation committed to personal development, social inclusion, and leadership growth through various activities, competitions, and community engagement.

Meanwhile, Whitechurch Macra’s current chairperson, Conor Murphy, is running for Macra president.
"This follows a decade of dedication and leadership within the organisation. Conor has steadily risen through the ranks, serving as club secretary in his first year, later becoming national council representative for Seandún from 2020 to 2024, and chairing the national competitions sub-committee from 2022 to 2024," O'Sullivan told us.
While acknowledging the challenge ahead, Murphy is eager to bring his experience and vision to the role, focusing on membership growth, engagement, and generational renewal within Macra.
Murphy’s priority, if elected, will be to increase active membership, enhance member engagement, and ensure strong leadership development within the organisation.
He also emphasised the importance of generational renewal in ensuring a viable future for young farmers and the wider agricultural community.
"Whitechurch Macra na Feirme is a dynamic youth organisation committed to personal development, social inclusion, and leadership growth through various activities, competitions, and community engagement.
