Origin Enterprises acquires ecology consultancy business

Agronomy services provider Origin Enterprises has announced the acquisition of specialist ecological consultancy firm Scott Cawley Ltd.

Scott Cawley has a team of over 30 people, and has been providing ecological survey and impact assessment services to the planning and development sectors in Ireland for over 20 years.

The business also advises private and public sector organisations on issues related to biodiversity by assisting in the development of nature plans.

Scott Cawley joins Origin’s portfolio of environmental businesses providing ecological and environmental services such as planning consultancy, habitat management, and ecological assessments, as well as organisations involved in land management, development, restoration, and conservation.

The acquisition brings Origin’s combined team of environmental professionals to over 270, including 175 ecologists. The business said the acquisition strengthens its position in the UK and Irish ecology and environmental markets.

Origin said the addition of Scott Cawley is consistent with the group’s strategy to accelerate investment in environmental and ecological solutions.

The group said the acquisition is part of its 'Living Landscapes' division, which provides products, services and advice across the sports, landscapes and environmental markets.

Origin said it aims to generate 30% of its group operating profit through this division by the end of the 2026 financial year.

Commenting on the acquisition, managing director of Origin's Living Landscapes division, TJ Kelly, said: "With significant expertise and strong relationships across both the public and private sectors in Ireland, Scott Cawley will complement and strengthen our existing ecological consulting and advisory services portfolio.
